There is something very special about Richie. Camera, creativity and style are essential elements when he is planning a production. He responded with great enthusiasm when we asked for something ‘different’ in a recent shoot. We got more than we expected. I was in the process of launching my sunglasses brand and needed someone to come and film our event. Due to the stress of our launch I didn't give Richie much direction or guidance as to what we were looking for but he absolutely smashed it anyway. He naturally picked up the vibe of the situation and caught it brilliantly. He then proceeded to edit his footage to perfectly match the style that we had talked about when we had first met. He also managed get the finished piece back to us quickly even though he was incredibly busy. I have known Richie Luwxwa since he reached out to Creative Opportunities in January 2018.
In February Richie volunteered to film a charity dinner hosted by the young people we work with. On the evening Richie was brilliant, he built rapport with guests and other volunteers quickly, showed initiative with who he chose to interview and even taught some of the other volunteers how to use his equipment. He has since made films for one of the guests he met at the event.
The turnaround on the film was incredibly quick (under a week) which we did not expect for a voluntary project and we were very happy with the result. Richie delivered a film which really captured the excitement of the evening.
Richie then joined our mentoring programme in March. He has developed a creative partnership with one of the mentors he met at the launch.
In June we suggested Richie volunteer at the One World Media Awards, which he did. Feedback from the night was, “Richie was a fantastic volunteer at the 30th Anniversary One World Media Awards. He was enthusiastic, friendly and helpful throughout the whole night and a great addition to the welcoming team. I enjoyed getting the chance to learn about him and his interests and wish him luck with his dreams of documentary filmmaking, which I’m sure he will be brilliant at.”
